As a social media coach we are asked ‘what must I do to improve my Facebook business pages ?’

To answer that we thought we’d share some of the BIG don’t do actions.

Fighting with fans on Facebook.
This will make you look bad. If somebody posts something negative on your Facebook page, remember to be professional and to move the dialogue to an offline environment.

Spamming with posts
Nobody likes spam. Keep your posts informative. It is a balance as you need to ensure that you Facebook page is active, current and does not look like a deserted page. The motto – keep it fun, newsworthy and interesting.

Personal Information .. It is a business page after all.

Don’t share your personal information on Facebook. It’s your business page not your personal one. So don’t put your address, phone number or personal e-mail address on there, only your business ones. This also applies to personal social plans and photographs.

Not following the Facebook guidelines
This includes guidelines for timeline photos, contests and content. You can’t just promote or sell anything you want via Facebook, there are rules.

Do not Ignore fans
If a fan makes the effort to contact you on Facebook, you should make the effort of reacting too. The one and it rule here is Engage..Engage..Engage

Not filling out your page completely
Make sure all your business information is on your Facebook page. Have you ever landed on a Facebook page and not been able to find a companies contact details? Very frustrating.

Although tempting..No liking your own post
You wrote it – obviously you like it.

Not personalizing the page
Sometimes your Facebook page is the first impression someone gets of your business, let’s make it a great impression.
