Net Branding recruits during the school holidays and we love hearing what children think about social media. Joining us in this school holidays is our newest and the most adorable team member yet – Mr. Matthew.

Matthew is an 11-year-old boy who loves playing different kinds of sports and is a champ at rugby. Matthew also loves ice creams and have, in fact, made a deal with us that we will pay for 1 blog with an ice cream.

For his very first blog, we asked Matthew to write about his thoughts on Cyber Safety. Here is what he had to say:

5 great cyber safety tips from an 11-year-old.

Cyber Safety is very important. Below are 5 tips to help you be safe online:

  1. Don’t Meet Someone Personally That You Met Online: When you are online you need to be careful. Don’t arrange to meet anyone that you have only met online. Only arrange to meet them if you actually know and like the person. Maybe if it is someone your parents know. Always tell an adult, your parents or caregiver before you go to meet someone.
  2. Protect Your Identity Online: Don’t give out any passwords or any personal information online. If you are going to school and you are in your school uniform, you can still take pictures but don’t post them online. Because other people who don’t know you will see your name on the post and then they will see the school logo and they would then know your name and the school that you go to.
  3. Digital Foot Print: Another point is that when you are online you leave a digital footprint. That digital footprint will stay with you for the rest of your life.
  4. You Should Also Never Cyber Bully: Because some people actually get all cooped up in a room and feel important when they hurt the feelings of others. It is sad and can affect people for a long time.
  5. Be Careful What You Say Online: Do not say anything online that you would not say to the person. So after this, I hope that you stay safe online.
