I am repeatedly asked about Facebook and how to improve your Facebook organic reach?  Whilst this was easy a couple of years back, things have changed.   But do you need to do Facebook advertising or can you improve your organic reach by making a few changes to your existing Facebook page?  Below you will find a few suggestions that I hope will be of value to you.

Do you know when your Facebook Plans are online?

Have you tested various times of the day to post new news items to your Facebook page? This is particularly important if you only post once a day.  Personally I believe you should be posting to Facebook more often than this but must do and reality is often not aligned. We all have time constraints.  (BTW if you are looking for an easy option to post great content to Facebook more frequently please be in touch with me).   But more often than not, businesses are only posting every few days or once a week.  Then it goes with out saying that understanding the make-up of your fan base is  critical.  To assist you , you should find this graph within your Insights area of your Facebook business page.  This graph informs you at what time of the day your fans are online.  Remembering that your post is only “”live” in the news feed for a short window of opportunity then you should be posting your content when your fans are on-board and are able to be a captured audience.

Post Regularly and More Frequently

Again use your Insights statistics to evaluate what is the best form of engagement.  Once this pattern is established, use this to your best advantage.  But I only post once a day or once a week!!!!

Consider this,  If you post to Facebook once a day, you can only expect to reach those Facebook fans who are online within a one or two hour window after your news update.  Remember, if you post multiple posts in quick succession you are loosing out.  So space your multiple posts at least two hours apart and don’t forget the night owls.  Consider pre-setting your Facebook posts for late at night or during the early hours of the morning.

But where can I find a reasonable source of content?

Consider the following…

Re-sharing old Content and this is where your Blog is very useful.

Reflect on some of your past content, what has had great value and positive engagement.  Review your blog statistics, which post seem to continually attract organic search from the search engines?

You have a pool of content ready for re-sharing.

Produce Highly Engaging Content

This sound pretty self explanatory but the objective is a “Like”, “Comment”,  “Share” or a “Click of a photo”  all counts as engagement.

Facebook is a social network, so get social and focus on achieving social activity from engaged fans.  Give them quality content, give them a variety of content.

Quality content that that increases

Social EngagementCreate interesting and unique posts that your Facebook fans will want to engage with. Watch your Facebook insight stats as a guide.

Move an old highly engaged story into a newsfeed again.

Consider commenting on a past story, this may sound like an underhanded tactic but it can have the added benefit of bumping the story back into the news feed.

Considering buying Fans for your Facebook Page?  The answer is a definite NO.

Building fans organically using the suggestions above.  If you are paying for adverts, consider your advert targeting.  Remember you want real Facebook Fans that actually want to engage with your page about your product or service.

In utilising the above, you should see an increase in your Facebook Organic Reach.
